Taino legge (Taino reads) is an association in the village Taino (near the Lago Maggiore in Italy) to stimulate literacy of young children throughout nursery and elementary school by reading aloud on regular basis to children. As a class the children are offered readings in the municipal library in order to 'taste' various types of children's literature. After the reading the volunteers help them to choose books to take home. The project expanded succesfully to the neighbouring village Angera. Irma van Welzen was one of the founders.
